Kota Kinabalu

Formerly known as Jesselton, it is the capital of the state of Sabah, located in East Malaysia, on the Island of Borneo. Often known as just “KK” among the locals or “Api Api” (fire in Malay language), it is a major fishing destination and a popular gateway for travellers visiting Sabah and Borneo. Kinabalu National Park is located about 90 kilometres from the city and there are many tourist attractions in and around the city, including the Tunku Abdul Rahman marine park, comprising a group of small islands not far from the coast.
