The City of Kuching is the capital and the most populous city in the state of Sarawak in Malaysia, on Borneo Island. The city has been for long time ruled by “white Rajas”, a dynasty of kings from Britain and the city still has a quaint and mostly intact historical centre from the era. A major food destination and the main gateway for travellers visiting Sarawak and Borneo, with the Kuching Wetlands National Park located about 30 kilometres away. Coincidentally, Kuching means “cat” in Malay language and the cat has been dubbed “cat city”. The city hosts annually the Rainforest World Music Festival, an internationally acclaimed World music event with performers from all over the World.
