Terengganu is a state in the Federation of Malaysia. It has a long history and has been recorded in ancient Chinese dynasties. It was included in old Indian kingdoms, and came under the influence of Malacca in the Middle Ages. Its long coastline offer many destinations and some of the most beautiful islands of Peninsular Malaysia, including Pulau Redang, Pulau Lang Tengah, Pulau Kapas and the Pulau Perhentian, which attract beachgoers and snorkelers alike. Terengganu hosts a series of local events, many linked to Malay traditions, such as kite flying, but more recently has been known internationally as the host of Monsoon Cup, a yacht race.
