Not far from Kota Kinabalu’s coastline lies an island called Sepanggar, which makes an ideal destination for a short trip from Sabah’s capital.
This travel idea consists of a single day trip to Sepanggar, suitable for swimming, relaxing at the beach, and snorkeling. It’s a lesser known island, as it doesn’t belong to the most famous marine park of Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park.
Pick up and transportation to the island are organised collectively, therefore you will travel with others during your trip to Sepanggar. However, it’s usually not as crowded as other islands nearby Kota Kinabalu and you might get a more private atmosphere once arrived. We recommend you bring only the minimum necessary for this simple excursion while you can leave unnecessary baggage at your hotel in town. Make sure you have sunscreen, swimsuit, a raincoat or umbrella in case of rain, plenty of water, towels and any snorkeling or swimming equipment you may need.
Once arrived to Sepanggar there will be beach chairs, lounge chairs, hammocks, showers, changing rooms and washrooms available.
